NEW YORK (January 12, 2016) – Leading Lady of Retail Technology Deborah Weinswig, Executive Director-Head of Global Retail & Technology at Fung Business Intelligence Centre (FBIC), has been named one of retail’s top 50 influencers by New Zealand-based point-of-sale software company Vend, FBIC said today.

Weinswig, ranked number 22 in the third annual listing, joins analysts, researchers, industry executives, entrepreneurs and journalists by the point-of-sale software company. The list was determined by Vend research, and nominations from previous influencers and reader comments, with a select panel assessing each individual’s expertise and clout in the retail industry. The full list can be found here.

“I’m so excited to be among such extraordinary company as Retail Doctor Bob Phibbs, author Doug Stephens, the National Retail Federation’s Matthew Shay, and so many exceptional journalists, especially at a time when retail is undergoing revolutionary change,” Weinswig says. “Our goal at FBIC is to produce useful, pertinent research for all interested in retail, and this honor from Vend shows that our team is achieving that.”

On its website, Vend defined “retail influencers” as “people who consistently share valuable content and commentary about the industry. They have a deep understanding of retailers and shoppers and have extensive industry experience. Most importantly, influencers educate and inform retailers on trends, current events, and best practices, so merchants can run their businesses better.”

Weinswig has been a pioneering advocate for innovation, creativity and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies from her career on Wall Street and beyond. She joined FBIC in 2014 to offer her unique viewpoints on the disruptive technology trends and innovations that are reshaping the global retail industry. Recent reports issued by the group include: the upcoming “US Retail Trends 2016,” “Tech-Enabled Holiday Shopping,” “Sizer App: The Online Fitting Technology Report,” “The Makeover of Vending Machines in the US,” and “The Disruptor Series: Robots as Store Associates.” All of the group’s reports and analyses can be found at  www.fbicgroup.com and www.deborahweinswig.com.

Prior to joining FBIC, Weinswig’s experience as an award-winning Wall Street retail analyst has given her a global perspective on retail, retail real estate and technology, covering such retailers as Walmart, Target, Costco, Macy’s, Walgreens and Home Depot. In addition, she advises startups working with retailers on digital strategies and other business and logistical issues, and is a member of the U.S. advisory board of the World Retail Congress and an Executive Board Member of the Terry J.
